Set in Sydney’s picturesque lower north shore community of Mosman, the Mini-Mos plays host to more than 2,000 runners each year. The 10km run, the Mini-Mos’ premier event, is considered one of Australia’s toughest courses with an undulating profile challenging runners of all capabilities from the novice to the world class athlete.

The Mini-Mos attracts runners of all shapes, sizes and capabilities; from the one-race-per-year punter to some of Australia’s best world class level runners, including World Champions, Olympians and Commonwealth Games medal winners.

The Mini-Mos was established and continues to serve as a fundraising event for one of Mosman’s public schools as well as designated charities within the community. This year, the Mini-Mos will be helping raise funds for two charitable organisations: The Starlight Children’s Foundation and Giant Steps (an innovative school for children who have spectrum autism).

Emily & James' Giant Steps
Creator   Emily Solomon
Close at  Saturday, 5 December 2009

James & I are running in the 2km mini-mos on 14th of June.  We would like to raise money to help the autistic children at Giant Steps.  Thanks for helping by sponsoring us in the run.

    Giant Steps Sydney

Giant Steps Sydney is a world leading educational facility for children with autism. The program is trans-disciplinary which includes speech, music and occupational therapy.  It is a high-level intensive program for children and young adults. The team approach at Giant Steps Sydney provides maximum support to families through the provision of home programs and frequent consultation with parents and carers.  All students engage in a full range of activities which are adjusted using a range of autism friendly strategies.  As Giant Steps entered its fifteenth year of operation, it became clear that there was a need for autism specific service provision for young adults leaving school.  As a result 2009 saw the opening of the GS Community College (GSCC) to address the need for an autism-specific post school options program.  The GSCC is based on the principles of the adult community education programs which provide the mainstream adult community with a wide variety of courses for continued learning.
